CO₂ Resurfacing — From Refresh to Repair
Not every CO₂ treatment needs to be aggressive.
At Epicell, our DEKA Tetra PRO CO₂ laser allows us to customise the intensity of resurfacing according to your skin, your concerns and the amount of downtime that is appropriate for you.
Think of CO₂ resurfacing as a spectrum. At one end is CoolPeel® — a lighter, more superficial approach designed for skin refreshment with less downtime. At the other is fractional DOT resurfacing — a more intensive treatment used when we need to work more deeply on concerns such as established acne scarring, deeper lines and more significant textural or sun-related change. DEKA's DOT PRO scanner allows treatment parameters and the scanning area to be individually controlled.
CoolPeel® — The lighter resurfacing option
CoolPeel uses very short CO₂ laser pulses to target the more superficial layers of the skin while limiting unnecessary heat accumulation. DEKA specifically developed CoolPeel to offer some of the benefits of traditional CO₂ resurfacing with greater control over downtime.
It can be a good option when the goal is to improve fine lines, enlarged-looking pores, rough or uneven texture, early sun damage and overall skin quality, without committing to a more intensive resurfacing treatment.
In simple terms: CoolPeel is about refreshing and refining the skin.
DOT CO₂ — Deeper resurfacing and remodelling
DOT treatment takes fractional CO₂ resurfacing further. Instead of treating the entire surface uniformly, the laser creates controlled microscopic columns—or “dots”—of treatment while leaving surrounding areas untreated to support the healing process.
The treatment can be adjusted for depth, density, thermal effect and treatment area, allowing us to address more established skin concerns. DEKA's technology also allows different pulse shapes to alter the balance between vaporisation and thermal stimulation.
DOT may be considered when treating acne scarring, deeper textural irregularity, more established lines and wrinkles, photodamage and areas where greater collagen remodelling is required. DEKA also offers a dedicated Scar 3 PRO scanner for deeper scar treatment, with action described by the manufacturer as reaching up to 6 mm in appropriate applications.
In simple terms: DOT is about resurfacing and remodelling the skin more intensively.

And there isn't just one setting for either treatment. The advantage of the Tetra PRO is that treatment can be adjusted between these approaches according to the individual skin and clinical goal.
At Epicell, we don't choose a CO₂ treatment simply because one is “stronger”. We assess your skin condition, scarring, pigmentation, medical history, previous treatments, desired outcome and tolerance for downtime before deciding how your treatment should be performed.
