Your First Consultation at Epicell: What to Expect
Walking into a skin or medical aesthetics clinic for the first time can feel a little overwhelming. There are so many treatments available, and it can be difficult to know what your skin actually needs or where to begin.
At Epicell Skin Clinic, we believe your first appointment should start with a conversation — not a treatment.
Our approach is consultation-led, which means we take the time to understand your concerns, assess what we can see clinically and develop a treatment plan that is appropriate for you.
If Your Concern Is Your Skin
If you're visiting us for concerns such as acne, rosacea, redness, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, texture, scarring or general skin ageing, your consultation may include an assessment using our OBSERV skin analysis system.
OBSERV allows us to look beyond what is immediately visible on the surface and assess different characteristics of the skin. We combine this information with a clinical assessment, your skin history, current products, previous treatments and your individual goals.
From there, we can develop a personalised treatment plan rather than simply recommending a treatment because it is popular or trending.
Depending on your concerns, your plan may incorporate professional skincare, peels, LED therapy, vascular or pigment laser, Laser Genesis, skin needling, HIFU or CO₂ laser treatments.
Sometimes the best plan is to begin by improving the health and stability of the skin before progressing to more advanced treatments.
Qualified, Clinical Care
Epicell is a nurse-led clinic, with care provided by experienced nurses and dermal clinicians with qualifications and experience across nursing, dermatology, dermal science, dermoscopy and advanced skin treatments.
Our nursing team works within their professional scope of practice, and medical support and referral are sought when clinically required.
This is particularly important to us. Not every skin concern is purely cosmetic, and if something requires further medical assessment, we will discuss this with you rather than simply treating over it.
Medical Aesthetics Consultations
If your concerns are related to facial ageing, your consultation follows the same considered approach.
Rather than focusing on a particular product or procedure, we look at your face as a whole and discuss the changes that are concerning you.
This may include concerns around wrinkle reduction, facial movement, changes in facial volume, skin quality or age-related structural changes.
Where appropriate, our nurses can discuss treatment options within their scope of practice and arrange the necessary medical consultation or prescribing support when required.
The aim is not to change the way you look. It is to understand what is changing, what is bothering you and what options may be appropriate — including when no treatment is needed.
You Don't Need to Know What Treatment You Need
One of the most common things we hear is:
"I know what bothers me, but I don't know what treatment I need."
That's completely fine.
You don't need to arrive at Epicell knowing whether you need laser, skin needling, CO₂, wrinkle reduction treatments or something else.
That's what the consultation is for.
Come in with your concerns and your goals. We'll assess your skin or facial concerns, explain what we see and talk you through the options available to you.
From there, we'll create a plan that makes sense for your skin, your goals and your timeline.
At Epicell, the treatment isn't the starting point.
The consultation is.
